We are excited to partner with Copa Airlines as their first aggregator partner live with their brand new NDC program. The addition of Copa Airlines unlocks a wide range of routes between North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. With Copa now live, sellers can access airlines that represented 52% of US passenger demand in 2019.
Introducing Copa Airlines
Copa Airlines was founded in 1947 as the flag carrier of Panama and quickly grew to be one of Latin America’s main airlines, connecting passengers across the continent.
The airline has been a Star Alliance member since 2012, letting customers benefit from shared mileage programs and a wider network of destinations. Pre-pandemic, Copa operated 361 daily scheduled flights to 80 destinations in 33 countries. With direct flights to major cities across the US (including Miami, Orlando, New York), Copa has become a customer favourite when travelling between South, North America and the Caribbean.
Over the last two years, Copa has received many international awards:
- “Best Latin American Airline in the Last Decade” from FlightGlobal
- “Best Airline in Central America and the Caribbean” for the fifth year in a row from Skytrax
- “Best Airline Staff in Central America and the Caribbean" from Skytrax
- "The Best Latin American Airline of the Year, " from kayak.com customers
It isn’t surprising that travellers love Copa. In 2020, it was ranked the world’s second most punctual airline by the Official Aviation Guide (OAG). It also has one of the youngest fleets in the region, with an average age of under 8 years, with Latin American carriers averaging about 11 and North American almost 15 years as reported by Statista. This means increased comfort and safety for the passengers.
Copa’s new NDC program
In an industry of constant changes, where airlines need to modernise and evolve to maximise the quality and the experience for customers and travel agencies, Copa Airlines has joined the new technological transformations of airline distribution processes to enhance its offer by introducing more flexibility and diverse options.
Copa's NDC Program seeks to provide a modern, reliable, and content-rich channel to their travel agency partners and customers. NDC will help enhance product offerings and functionalities, and Copa wants to share these new opportunities for closer cooperation with key partners in the distribution chain.
